Yeah, I admit it… I’m copying http://shadeofgrey.tumblr.com/.
Though, I’m kind of wondering if I’ll get asked anything - I don’t have a huge number of followers. We’ll see I guess. Either way here it is. Ask me whatever you want:
adventures, hiking, taking pictures, computers, beer geek, college football, planning trips, and soon kayaking.

James Brown - Soulful Christmas
A foot of snow forecast for western NC by tomorrow. Got to get a plan together for getting up there to do some snow hiking on Sunday…

Brian Kelly is a loser. He may be on the cusp of an undefeated season at Cicinnati and moving on to be the new head coach of Notre Dame, but to give up on his players - especially his seniors, and not coach Cincinnati in the Sugar Bowl to give those guys a chance at finishing with an unbeaten record so that he can go ahead on to Notre Dame is a shitty thing to do. If CJ Spiller were to say he wasn’t going to play in Clemson’s bowl game so that he didn’t risk injury before the NFL draft he would catch hell. Even though he has so much more to lose than a coach such as Kelly switching jobs. Spiller would be called a quitter, and get thrown under the bus. I have always disliked Notre Dame, but I will be pulling even harder for them to lose every game they play. If the NCAA is going to place such strict rules on players, they need to do the same for coaches.
Breathtaking. I’d love to go one day.
Lake Moraine, Banff National Park, Alberta.
The only time I’ve been to Canada was to go to Banff and Lake Louise. But it was right after Christmas, and the hike to Lake Moraine wasn’t going to happen, and Lake Louise doesn’t look too much different than Moraine I don’t think - though it was completely covered in snow and ice. The Icefield Parkway going north out of Banff is quite possibly the most beautiful stretch of road in the world. It too had plenty of ice, and was “closed” but with a sign to drive at your own risk. Probably stupid to have done it in that rental car, but what’s life without a little risk now and then. The -50 wind chill one day while we were there wasn’t too pleasant…

Why you gotta curse like that?
Though I guess given the choices, Bama’s the lesser of two evils…
One of the little joys in life is watching Tebow cry when Florida loses. Though now the Bama fans are going to be intolerable.
Sad. Like most of the other magazines to fold, I have quite a few friends who were contributing editors/writers.
This sucks. Had a subscription… one of my favorite magazines
Another picture from the airboat ride. Anna seems to like this one the most for some reason. I didn’t think it was anything special…
This house is on that same dirt road from the previous picture. It is directly facing the bay. The storm surge here during Hurricane Katrina was about 16 feet, putting the water well into the second floor. I’m just glad they fixed it back up. The house and land and oak trees here are beautiful.
While I was at the in-laws on Dauphin Island for Thanksgiving, I went for a walk down this road in Bayou La Batre, AL. Around the corner, the road runs right next to a small sea wall along the bay. Lots of live oak trees and spanish moss.
Bayou La Batre is a fishing and ship building community that was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina (and Ivan before that). It is the home of the character Bubba from Forrest Gump, and where Bubba and Forrest ran their shrimping bidness…
The Georgia tech people seem to obsess over UGA - what they’re doing, what music they are listening to, how much hotter the girls in Athens are… It’s sad. Even in a year when tech wins their division and plays for a conference championship in which they won’t even sell half of the stadium seats, it’s all about beating UGA. That’s what made it so much sweeter when the Dawgs won their 8th of the last 9 games against them tonight. It’s been a very disappointing season, but ruining tech’s season makes it much easier to take.
